Rhythmics/EMP (Elementary Music Pedagogy)

Rhythmics / EMP, also known as REMP, means studying an interdisciplinary area that provides advanced and specific professional qualifications in the areas of music and movement. This includes linguistic, instrumental, dance and choreographic training.

Training

diverse, practical, individual

The Rhythmics / EMP course is comprised of qualifications in the Bachelor IGP, which is geared towards the courses offered at music schools and independent institutions, through to the REMP master's course, which also includes training in the areas of instrumental performance and curative education. Further educational specializations are possible.

Thus, the following recognized degrees are offered at the HfM Dresden:
- Rhythmics / EMP for pedagogical deepening in the bachelor's degree IGP
- Rhythmics / EMP as a part-time, continuing education master’s course

All other offers and specializations aim to apply rhythm in the subject area offered and to be able to apply the associated methodological principles.

Rhythmics in Master

The master’s course in Rhythmics / EMP is a fee-based continuation of the Bachelor. It lasts 4 semesters and ends with the “Master of Music”.

Rhythm offers a diverse field of networking between music and movement. In the work processes of rhythm, improvisational and creative skills are developed in order to transfer music into visible movement and in turn to convert movement into sounding auditory events.

The course is aimed at all those who are ambitious in the fields of music, dance, creativity and education and enjoy working in and with groups, have the appropriate qualifications and pass the entrance exam. Within the Masters (from the third semester) we offer specializations in the areas of pedagogy, stage (performance) or curative pedagogy. The observation opportunities in the children's class, in the areas of early education and basic training as well as in elementary instrumental lessons are particularly special.

Graduates of the master’s course have, depending on their specification, a rich repertoire of methods for teaching as well as the ability to present music and movement in artistic form on the stage.

Teacher Training in Music
The students complete their required practice hours and exams. The registration for the courses takes place via lists. In addition, a 2-semester course can be chosen in the elective subject area. This also applies to primary school teaching.
