Timpani/Percussion Instruments
The training of the timpani/percussion classes ranges between the traditional and the modern, Dresden’s top orchestras and soloistic aspiration. Musicians from the Sächsischen Staatskapelle Dresden or the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra instruct alongside international soloists and renowned pedagogues.
Training
Broadly Diversified, Practically Oriented, Individually
The focus of the study programme is the development of an artistic personality with all its creative potential, who confidently meets the requirements of the current music business. The basis for this is the comprehensive technical and musical training and promotion of creativity and independence.
Focus Areas
In addition to regular core subject lessons, the focus of the course includes work in the Hochschulsinfonieorchester as well as chamber music and new music. This guarantees a broad and individual training.
Gain Concert Experience
Ensemble projects with other musicians at the university, work in the Hochschulsinfonieorchester or close collaboration with other instrumental classes provide important practical experience. The associated stage practice guarantees regular panel concerts and performance opportunities.
Flexible Training
Depending on your personal goals, you can choose between artistic and instrumental pedagogical training. In addition, additional course offerings such as drum set, jazz vibraphone and percussion guarantee a wide range of profiling opportunities.

Regular master classes with well-known percussionist of different stylistic orientations round off the training program.
