The training of the timpani/percussion classes ranges between the traditional and the modern, Dresden’s top orchestras and soloistic aspiration. Musicians from the Sächsischen Staatskapelle Dresden or the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra instruct alongside international soloists and renowned pedagogues.
Training
Broadly Diversified, Practically Oriented, Individually
The focus of the study programme is the development of an artistic personality with all its creative potential, who confidently meets the requirements of the current music business. The basis for this is the comprehensive technical and musical training and promotion of creativity and independence.
Focus Areas
In addition to regular main subject studies and correpetition, the work in the College Symphony Orchestra as well as chamber music belong to the main focuses of the studies. The training is possible as an artistic or instrumental pedagogical study. Individual focuses can be set with different elective modules. This guarantees a broadly diversified and individual training. This also includes preparation for various competitions in solo and chamber music.
Kurt Masur Academy
Orchestra Academy of the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra
The Kurt Masur Academy offers particularly talented musicians the opportunity to prepare themselves within the Dresden Philharmonic for their future profession and to get to know the special playing culture and the sound ideal of the traditional top orchestra. At the same time, they are studying in the four-semester Master's programme "Music with a focus on orchestral practice" at the College of Music Carl Maria von Weber Dresden.
