Study Programmes

The Dresden College of Music views itself as a place for the cultivation of the music culture in which art, science and instruction in theory and practice are interconnected. There is a lively exchange between tradition and renovation, continuity and experiment. Freedoms to experiment, new working methods and artistic research are components of everyday life at the College.

The College of Music in Dresden offers an exceptionally broad range of study opportunities of an excellent standard. Both faculties instruct in classical traditions and pedagogical approaches.

In addition to the artistic courses of studies that conclude with Bachelors and Masters certificates, a particular model for teaching programmes is also offered. The option to choose between a traditional teacher training and the so-called double subject in music is available.

In addition to the teaching and seminar units, the training as orchestra musician or music teacher includes ensemble playing in the college symphony orchestra, in particular symphony concerts and opera productions, as well as working with renowned ensembles and conductors in chamber music.
