The application is open only to those who have already applied to the "Kurt Masur Academy", the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra Academy, and have received a confirmation of participation in the audition at the Dresden Philharmonic. The application to study at the HfM Dresden is a prerequisite for participation in the audition at the Dresden Philharmonic.
- Selection of pieces and movements from the audition repertoire of approx. 20 minutes
- The selection should include at least two orchestral parts, and at least one movement of each of the prepared works should be played in full
- Concerts are to be played with accompaniment. The play of both hands of the applicant must be seen
Please record the video from a fixed perspective (do not move the camera). You can use a smartphone or a professional camera to record. Please pay attention to a good sound. You can also record with microphones. You and your fellow players (if there are any) must be easy to see. Your hands in particular must be clearly visible (for piano and strings). At the beginning of the video, introduce yourself and say your program, looking at the camera. You have to speak German.
You can play each piece individually, and you can also cut between the pieces and the introduction. Please combine videos of different pieces into one video, if that is possible. Image and sound must be recorded at the same time, the use of a separate audio recording device is recommended.
After passing the trial at the Dresdner Philharmonie, an additional examination at the HfM Dresden has to be completed. Both examinations happen at the same day in the same place. The examination at the HfM consists of an:
