EXTENDED CHORD GUITAR TUNINGS
European Guitar Award open: Workshop in englischer Sprache
Don Ross (Kanada)
In addition to popular altered tunings like DADGAD and “open” major and minor chord tunings, it’s also possible to work in tunings that go beyond the triad and that incorporate chord voicings that include extensions like the seventh, ninth and even the eleventh note of a scale, resulting in rich sonorities not normally achievable in standard tuning or other simpler open tunings. We’ll look at some of Don’s uses of those tunings in his compositions.
