Selection Procedure
Following an initial review of applications for completeness and formal eligibility, all application materials will be assessed by a university selection committee. Applicants deemed eligible for the Deutschlandstipendium will be invited in December to participate in a live audition/presentation ("Ausspiel").
Applicants are required to present their musical abilities to the Permanent Jury through a programme of up to 12 minutes. The programme should include three representative works from different stylistic periods or genres. Students in Composition and Music Theory may instead give a conducting, pedagogical, academic, or other relevant presentation of up to 6 minutes. This will be followed by a 6-minute question-and-answer session with the Permanent Jury focusing on the content of the presentation.
The final decision on scholarship awards is made by the Permanent Jury of Dresden University of Music. Both the assessment of the submitted application documents and the performance in the audition/presentation contribute to the overall evaluation.
