International Master's Program in New Music
For decades, the Dresden University of Music has been one of the world's leading training institutions in the field of contemporary music. To enable students to pursue further education and specialization in this promising area, the international Master's program in New Music was launched in 2019.

This unique degree program combines the expertise of three renowned universities: The Dresden University of Music, the Bern University of the Arts, and the Mozarteum University Salzburg. Students have the opportunity to spend one year of the four-semester program in these other cities.

Our alumni have successful careers as solo or chamber musicians and regularly win major competitions worldwide. Why? Because we are there for you and support you on your individual path, exactly as you need and want it – for example, through mentoring in your main subject, improvisation courses, or coaching on using electronics and video.

Ensemble work and performances in our concert hall are a cornerstone of our MA in New Music, complemented by projects with international star composers, exchange projects with our partner universities, and collaboration with the outstanding composition classes at the Dresden University of Music.
