Dotzauer String Academy 2026

Villa Rothermundt / Saxony State Grammar School for Music
Following in the footsteps of the Dresden cellist C. F. Dotzauer, the doors of Villa Rothermundt will be open to string instruments. Masterclasses, ensemble playing, and workshops on technique and methods invite you to listen and actively participate.

Dresden Piano Academy 2026

Villa Rothermundt / Saxony State Grammar School for Music
In the heart of Dresden, a city steeped in musical tradition, a new international festival format will launch in 2026, aimed at young piano enthusiasts from around the world. Comprising a top-tier masterclass, opportunities for creative and informal collaborative music-making, seminars, and public performances, the festival offers a unique platform for exchange and development for aspiring musicians and music educators.
Prof. Bernd Goetzke (Hannover University of Music and Performing Arts), Prof. Annika Treutler (Dresden University of Music), and Prof. Aleksandra Mikulska (Dresden University of Music) have been secured to lead the 2026 masterclass.

Masterclasses
The Dresden University of Music opens its doors for the Summer Academy YOUTH. A week full of music, inspiration, and intensive training awaits you. Are you between 12 and 18 years old and keen to further your musical education? Then save that date.
Are you preparing for the "Jugend musiziert" competition and looking for new inspiration and ideas for your program? Then you've come to the right place: Lecturers from the Dresden University of Music invite young musicians from all over Saxony who are preparing for the state competition or the national competition.

There are course-specific offers of advice for applicants, for example the informational audition for the singing major or the auditions for the teaching major.
In the Nachwuchsförderklasse, musically gifted children from the age of two receive lessons under the motto “With music and movement to music”.
The Young ClassX MusicMobile enables children and young people from Dresden and the surrounding area to have their first contact with music in one of the numerous cultural institutions in and around Dresden.
The Dresden University of Music cooperates with music schools in the region and has established the concert series "Musizieren auf dem Lande"(Making Music in the Countryside), in which students and pupils from the music schools make music together.
Network for the Promotion of Young Musical Talent
The Network for the Promotion of Young Musical Talent in Saxony brings together all those involved in musical education. The focus is on networking, knowledge transfer, and the further development of the musical education landscape to ensure the sustainable and coordinated promotion of musical skills for all children and young people in Saxony.
