Jazz/Rock/Pop Studies

The Jazz/Rock/Pop department is a well-knit team characterized by mutual respect, support, and shared growth - spanning different instruments, year groups, and musical styles.

We help our students develop a distinctive artistic identity that unlocks their individual potential and equips them to meet the diverse demands of today’s music industry. This is grounded in a comprehensive musical education that fosters creativity and independence while providing space for the development of original artistic ideas.

This diversity is reflected in our ensembles: whether it is a big band, a thematic ensemble, a jazz choir, or an improvisation group, students across all instruments perform, arrange, and improvise together from the very start. In this way, they gain early stage experience that is vital for their future professional careers.

We maintain an open approach to style: from jazz, rock, pop, Latin, and funk to free improvisation, we provide an environment where students can develop their own unique artistic voice.

After the second year of study, students have the option to take some of their classes with instructors specializing in other instruments. This allows the curriculum to be tailored even more closely to individual interests and artistic growth, while enabling students to benefit from the diverse expertise and backgrounds of our teaching staff.
