Forum for Contemporary Music Cultures
The Forum for Contemporary Music Cultures (FMKG) offers a platform for interdisciplinary seminars, lectures, presentations, workshops, and (research) projects. It is aimed at researchers and students, as well as teachers and pupils in Dresden and beyond. As a place for networking and reflection, it sees itself as a meeting point between theory and practice, experiment and intervention.
The FMKG is directed by Lukas Bugiel. The team includes Jörn Peter Hiekel, Robert Rabenalt, Wolfgang Mende, and others.
Insights - Zwischen den Zeilen
The lecture series "Insights: Between the Lines" offers insights into the multifaceted field of music theory. The invited guests explore core areas of music theory and related disciplines, examining music and its rules, effects, characteristics, and secrets, which are often hidden "between the lines." Through lectures, research reports, and presentations, we learn about their discoveries and how these insights can be applied to musical practice or conveyed in teaching.

Studentisches Peer-Learning
Peer learning offers students and faculty from all disciplines the opportunity to exchange experiences, ideas, and challenges on an equal footing. The focus is on practical topics related to studies, starting a career, and working as a freelancer. Experienced students and faculty members from HfM Dresden share insights into their personal career paths and proven strategies, speaking openly about both their successes and the challenges they have faced.
The format thrives on mutual exchange: participants discuss questions, share experiences, and develop new perspectives together—across disciplines and with a practical focus—aiming to ease the transition from university studies to professional life.
