Concert and Stage Experience
Studying Vocal Performance at the Dresden College of Music offers a practice-oriented education with high artistic standards. The interdisciplinary networking among the other fields of study in Jazz/Rock/Pop creates space for individual projects with a future.
Main Subject Jazz/Rock/Pop Vocal Performance
The main subject comprises the subjects rhythm (microtiming, phrasing, articulation, offbeat/onbeat, passing, metric/free design), melodic/harmonic (jazz specific harmonics, vertical or horizontal improvisation, guide-ton method, singing out changes, melodic embellishment, chord progressions, scales, permutations), sound (perception of one's own voice, timbres, scat singing, free improvisation, instrumental singing, ranting/poetry), correpetition, dramatic training, subject-specific stage dance, compositional singing and vocal improvisation. On the basis of jazz stylistics, space is given to the individual development in different styles.
Flexible Study Contents Promote Individuality
The programme is rounded off by extended courses, e.g. in music pedagogy, methodology and teaching practice, instrumental second subject, voice physiology, which can be chosen individually.
The study programme is accompanied by workshops, which are conducted by guest lecturers of the respective genre.
