- 15-20 minute video with three pieces from the JRP area
- the pieces can be recorded with a band or playalong
- one of the 3 pieces can be your own composition.
Please record the video from a fixed perspective (do not move the camera). You can use a smartphone or a professional camera to record. Please pay attention to a good sound. You can also record with microphones. You and your fellow players (if there are any) must be easy to see. Your hands in particular must be clearly visible (for piano and strings). At the beginning of the video, introduce yourself and say your program, looking at the camera. You have to speak German.
You can play each piece individually, and you can also cut between the pieces and the introduction. Please combine videos of different pieces into one video, if that is possible. Image and sound must be recorded at the same time, the use of a separate audio recording device is recommended.
Main Subject:
Artistic Presentation (approx. 15-20 minutes)
- Proof of vocal-technical, rhythmic, melodic and harmonic abilities and knowledge (e.g. II-V-I, Rhythm Changes, Blues)
- Performance of at least two stylistically different pieces from the field of Jazz/Rock/Pop with improvisation. The main focus of the examination is on jazz stylistics.
- Performance of a self-made solo transcription (sung to the original recording).
Write down the improvisation (not a theme variation, but an improvisation) of a jazz musician (instrumentalist or singer) and sing along to the original recording in the entrance examination. Triple copies of the self-created transcription must be submitted to the jury.
- If possible an own composition or independent arrangement of a piece of your choice
- Performance of a lyric or prose text or a small drama study
- Performance of an art or folk song (a cappella, preferably in the mother tongue)
The current examination programme must be submitted to the examination board in written form.
The examination programme is accompanied by répétitors or a rhythm section of the college (Sheet music must be brought along) or a proper ensemble. The prepared titles can also be accompanied by the interpreter (guitar or piano).
In parallel to good musical and vocal-technical background, a genre-specific feeling and flexibility in ensemble playing are also expected.
