Music in the Countryside
Concert Series
In 2020, the university initiative "Making Music in the Countryside" was launched. Since then, students from the Dresden University of Music (HfMDD) have been performing concerts together with music students from the rural region.
Venues include the "Old District Court" in Stolpen, Struppen Castle and Thürmsdorf Castle in Saxon Switzerland, Bieberstein Castle near Freiberg, the Evangelical Free Church in Weißwasser, and Seifersdorf Castle in the Seifersdorf Valley. This has led to closer ties with the music schools of Saxon Switzerland, Dreiländereck, and Bautzen (Radeberg).
Three to six joint concerts take place each semester.
The initiative aims to raise awareness among interested young musicians and their teachers from the music schools about the possibility of pursuing a teaching degree and to encourage them to study at our university in Dresden.
Concerts in the Bieberstein church in Reinsberg and in the Bräunsdorf community center.
Workshops
Furthermore, work is underway to conduct an on-site workshop before each concert, starting in September 2024. This workshop will be offered and led by professors and lecturers from the teacher training department for music students and their teachers.
