to the web sites of the University of Music Carl Maria von Weber Dresden alumni network. The role of the network is to promote a basis for an active relationship between graduates, students, former students, relatives as well as friends and sponsors of the University. Our internet appearance aims at supporting a forum for a vibrant community of alumni and a continuing relation to ‘your’ University. We’ve made it our job to develop, maintain and support the alumni community and we invite you to become an active part of it.
The idea
Alumna and alumnus (lat. pupil) are graduates of an educational institution. Their career achievements and success as musicians and artists makes them representatives of their institution. Developing a network of alumni allows the establishment of social relationships, and by doing so the experience and expertise of former students can be passed on to future student generations. However, a sustainable relationship between alumni and their former music school requires more. It requires solidarity, pride, hard work maintaining contact, and the feeling of belonging to a larger family that is the music school.

Business foundation is an issue for a growing number of graduates - how to organise a business as a self-employed freelance artist? How to deal with marketing a freelance business? How to create and negotiate a contract? How to found a music school?
Former students can have an important and highly responsible task as advisors, guiding new graduates through first entry into a working life. They can report, directly from their heart, how they managed the transition from university to working life and everything they have experienced along the way. For their part, the alumni have the opportunity to get in touch with young and well educated musicians.
