Financing of Studies / Study Fees

Administration fees for registration are 202,50 € each semester. The costs include a contribution to the Student Services (Studentenwerk) and the so-called Semesterticket which entitles students to use any local public transport in and around Dresden during the whole semester.

Monthly living expenses including rent and health insurance are approximately 600 €.
The University of Music Dresden does not provide scholarships for students. However, there are several institutions and foundations in Germany that support international students. You must not plan on financing your studies by working in Germany. Apart from students from member states of the EU, the framework for employment for international students is very limited (up to 180 half working days per annum without a work permit; working days of up to four hours duration are defined as half working days). The general rule remains, however, that gainful employment should not endanger a successful course which is the purpose of the residence permit. And please remember that, due to the high rate of unemployment in Germany, part-time jobs are not so easy to find. So make a realistic assessment of your financial means and please take the requirement to prove you have sufficient financial resources very seriously.
